Joanne Cadwallader
Joanne graduated from Truman State University with a BA in English and a Masters in Elementary Education. Shortly after becoming a Christian her freshman year through CCF, she completed a two-month summer internship with New Mission Systems International (NMSI) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras (2002). For several years, Joanne prayed that God would show her what the next step was in missions. Meanwhile, she taught kindergarten in St. Louis, and her heart for Hispanic children grew more and more through participation in annual mission trips to Reynosa, Mexico, in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
After teaching English in Chiclayo, Peru, during July 2007, Joanne began the process of becoming a missionary. She affiliated with NMSI in 2008 and moved to Fort Myers, Florida, in January 2009 to work in the Media Division. In July 2010, God opened the door for Joanne to minister to Hispanic children overseas full-time!
On August 24, 2010, she flies to San Jose, Costa Rica, to teach at Sojourn Academy, thankful for the backing of her home church, NMSI, and her family. She is honored to be sent out from each of these organizations, thankful for their support and love—both in prayer and finances—that made it possible to accept this opportunity on such short notice. Joanne is in awe of the way God has ushered her into freedom, hope, and quiet confidence in the last few months. Her testimony reminds us that God’s timing is perfect, that He is constantly preparing us for the future, for increased growth and deeper relationship with Him!
